(A) Effective January 1, 2023, the sewer rates increased as follows:
Sewer Rates | ||
2022 Rate | 2023 Rate |
Sewer Rates | ||
2022 Rate | 2023 Rate | |
In-town | ||
1,500 minimum | $18.41 | $19.51 |
Every 1,000 gallons over 1,500* | $11.13 | $11.79 |
Out of town | ||
1,500 minimum | $27.61 | $29.27 |
Every 1,000 over 1,500* | $16.69 | $17.69 |
Hocking County Commissioners | ||
Per 1,000 gallons | $4.75 | $5.04 |
(B) (1) In the table above, the calculation of “for every 1,000 gallons over 1,500” is not a flat fee; it shall be pro-rated. The amount of gallons over 1,500 actually used shall be pro-rated from the rated from the applicable rate.
(2) For example, if an in-town household uses 2,000 gallons of water in 2022, then it shall be charged for $18.41 for the 1,500 gallon minimum. Additionally, that same household shall be charged $5.57 for the actual gallons used over the 1,500 gallon minimum. The formula is as follows:
(a) (Minimum 1,500 gallon rate) + [(amount used/1,000 gallons) x (rate for 1,000 gallons over 1,500)] = sewer bill owed; and
(b) Therefore: $18.41 + [(500/1,000) x 11.13)] = sewer bill owed
$18.41 + 5.57 = sewer bill owed
$23.98 = 2022 sewer bill owed
