§ 51.14 WATER RESPONSIBILITY, CITY AND CUSTOMER.
   (A)   Outside meter settings:
      (1)   NUD (the city’s Utility Department) responsibility: The portion of the service line from the main to and including the meter vault including in such portion, any valve, meter, coupling and meter vault with its cover.
      (2)   Property owner responsibility: The portion of the service line beyond the meter vault on the customer’s premises.
   (B)   (1)   If any person applies for and is granted permission to tap for distribution of water on private property through private water distribution fines, the distribution lines, exclusive of those within buildings on the premises, shall be built to the specifications of and subject to inspection by the city.
      (2)   All private distribution lines shall be maintained in a good, adequate and sanitary condition and maintenance shall be the obligation and at the expense of the property owner, and the property owner shall indemnify and save harmless the city from any and all loss it may sustain by reason of the property owner failing to comply with the maintenance provisions set forth.
      (3)   There will be a valve right off the city owned main that the customer will hold responsibility to obtain and install at his or her cost, and this will be the paint of the end of the city’s responsibility.
