9-1-6: VEHICLE EQUIPMENT:
   A.   Every motor vehicle shall carry during the period from sunset to one hour before sunrise at least two (2) lighted lamps, showing white lights visible at least two hundred feet (200') in the direction toward which the motor vehicle is proceeding. Such lights shall be dimmed or so arranged as not to throw a blinding light in any direction. Every motor vehicle, except motorcycles, shall also exhibit two (2) lighted lamps, which shall be so situated as to throw a red light visible from the back of the vehicle. The identification number at the back of the vehicle shall be permanently attached to the vehicle so that it will not swing loosely and shall be so lighted as to be plainly visible. Such lights shall be kept burning when any motor vehicle is standing on any public street or alley. (Ord. 129, 9-5-1916; amd. 1989 Code)
   B.   Every automobile, motor vehicle or motorcycle, while being upon streets, alleys and public places of the City, shall be provided with a suitable brake; and shall be provided with a suitable bell or horn, or other signal device; and it shall be unlawful for any person operating an automobile, motor vehicle or motorcycle to make or cause to be made any loud or unnecessary noise with any such bell, horn or other signal device, or to use such bell, horn or other signal device, except as a warning of danger.
   C.   No person operating any automobile, motor vehicle or motorcycle shall permit the pipes, "muffler" or other device to emit sounds of exhaust in a loud and annoying manner, and all such automobiles, motor vehicles and motorcycles shall be operated in as noiseless a manner as possible. No person operating any automobile, motor vehicle or motorcycle shall permit the motor of the same to operate in such a manner as to visibly emit an unduly great amount of steam, smoke or products of combustion from exhaust pipes or openings.
