(a) Establishment. The Department of Public Works is hereby established.
(b) Direction and Control. The Public Works Department shall have a Public Works Director, whom shall serve under the direction and control of the City Manager.
(c) Authority of Public Works Director. The Public Works Director shall have under his or her authority, direction and control, the City’s Operations Department and the City’s Engineering Department.
(d) Duties of Public Works Director. The Public Works Director shall be in charge of and oversee the management of engineering, water distribution, wastewater collection, sanitation, fleet maintenance, building maintenance and street maintenance; moreover shall coordinate the functions of each department with other City Departments or divisions; further, shall perform other duties and have those responsibilities as assigned by the City Manager.
(e) Dual Service. As assigned by the City Manager, the Public Works Director may also serve as City Engineer to the City. (Ord. 099-11. Passed 12-19-11.)
