If any structure is erected, constructed, altered, repaired, converted, maintained, or used in violation of this subchapter, or any valid order or decision of the public officer or Zoning Board of Adjustment made pursuant to this subchapter, the public officer or the Zoning Board of Adjustment may institute any appropriate action or proceedings to prevent the unlawful erection, construction, reconstruction, or alteration or use, to restrain, correct, or abate the violation, to prevent the occupancy or use of the structure, or to prevent any illegal act, conduct or use in or about the premises of the abandoned structure.
