§ 32.01 MEMBERS; ELECTION, QUALIFICATIONS, COMPENSATION.
   (A)   Election; term of office. Each Councilmember shall be elected at-large by the voters of the city at a regular election. A candidate for council shall be a resident of the city for not less than one year prior to his or her election. Terms of office begin on the first day of January following the election and shall be for two years.
   (B)   Qualifications. A member shall be a least 18 years of age, shall be a qualified voter in the city, and shall reside in the city throughout his or her term of office. (KRS 83A.040(4),(5))
   (C)   The base salary of the City Council members shall be one thousand, two hundred and nineteen dollars and thirty-nine cents($1,219.39) for each member for a total of fourteen thousand, six hundred and thirty-two dollars and sixty-eight cents ($14,632.68) annually and shall be automatically increased by the CPI (Consumer Price Index) determined by the Department for Local Government (hereafter DLG). Said amount shall not exceed the annual maximum allowable amount computed by the DLG and the City Council salary will be incorporated in accordance with annual fiscal budget.
