For the purpose of this chapter the following definitions shall apply unless the context clearly indicates or requires a different meaning.
"ALTERATION." Any act defined as an alteration by the State Building Code.
"CONSTRUCTION." Any act defined as construction by the State Building Code.
"DEMOLITION." Any act defined as demolition by the State Building Code.
"HISTORIC DISTRICT." Those areas or neighborhoods of the city where there are sufficient landmarks and landmark sites to warrant a district designation to protect those features in a uniform manner.
"LANDMARK." Historic structure or improvement which meets the criteria for placement on the U.S. Interior Department's National Register of Historic Places.
"LANDMARK SITE." Site on which each landmark is located, with the boundaries of each site conforming to the deed records of the County Clerk.
"STRUCTURE OF MERIT." A structure of historical, architectural, or aesthetic merit which has not been designated as a landmark.
