§ 35.16  FIRE CHIEF.
   (A)   The position of Fire Chief is hereby established.
   (B)   The Fire Chief shall be appointed by the Mayor and may be removed by the Mayor at will.
   (C)   Subject to the authority of the Mayor and the rules and regulations promulgated by the volunteer firefighters and approved by the Mayor, the Chief of the Volunteer Fire Department shall be responsible for the organization and operation of the Fire Department.  He shall supervise, direct, and control the equipment of the Fire Department and the volunteer firefighters in their response to fires and the extinguishment thereof and the plans, preparations, procedures, practices, and training in regard thereto, and may, as Chief of the Fire Department, perform or cause to be performed all other actions authorized by law, ordinance, or regulation.
   (D)   The compensation of the Volunteer Fire Department Chief shall be in an amount to be established by City Council by ordinance, in accordance with § 31.02 of this code of ordinances.
