§ 31.37  WATER AND SEWER SUPERINTENDENT.
   (A)   There is established the office of Water and Sewer Superintendent.
   (B)   The Water and Sewer Superintendent shall be appointed by the Mayor with the approval of the City Council, and may be removed by the Mayor at will, except as tenure and terms of employment are protected by statute, ordinance or contract.
   (C)   No person shall be appointed or act as Water and Sewer Superintendent unless such person has taken the oath required by Section 228 of the Constitution of the Commonwealth of Kentucky, and has provided a bond in the sum of $-0-, with corporate surety authorized to transact business in the Commonwealth of Kentucky and conditioned upon the performance of the duties specified herein and with the qualifications set forth in division (D) below.
   (D)   Training and experience shall consist of any combination of education, training, and experience which provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform effectively the duties of the position.
   (E)   The Water and Sewer Superintendent shall have the following duties:
      (1)   Supervise all buildings and equipment used in the furnishing of water in the city.  The Water and Sewer Superintendent shall see that the city utility service is conducted on an economical business-like basis.
      (2)   Enforce all the provisions of the ordinances of the city relating to city utility service.  He shall also be responsible for all work orders, employees, and equipment under his supervision.
   (F)   The compensation of the Water and Sewer Superintendent shall be in an amount to be established by City Council by ordinance in accordance with § 31.02 of this code.
