§ 34.31 BEREAVEMENT LEAVE.
   Bereavement leave is a leave granted a salaried and full-time employee upon the death of a family member without loss of pay.
   (A)   All salaried and full-time employees of the city, its departments or utilities may receive up to three working days paid leave upon the death of spouse, brother, sister, son, daughter, mother, father, or any persons standing in position of parent to the employee.
   (B)   Additional bereavement leave, because of travel, may be granted by the department head by allowing the salaried and full-time employee to use the employee’s remaining personal leave or vacation days.
   (C)   Extended bereavement leave may be granted to the salaried and full-time employees, but without pay. Extended leave must be approved by the department head or governing body.
   (D)   Salaried and full-time employees may be granted funeral leave with pay to attend funeral services for the death of a grandmother, grandfather, aunt, uncle, niece, nephew, mother-in-law, father-in-law, brother-in-law, or sister-in-law.
   (E)   Part-time or temporary employees may be granted bereavement leave or funeral leave, but without pay. This should be arranged by the department head and may be accomplished by appropriate scheduling.
