§ 150.32 BUILDING COMMISSIONER.
   The Building Commissioner is authorized to proceed under the provisions of this subchapter in ordering the repair or removal of any buildings deemed to be unsafe or in ordering conformance with any minimum housing standards, as specified herein. The Building Commissioner, with the consent and approval of the Board of Public Safety, is authorized to appoint an Assistant Building Commissioner whose duties shall be determined by the Building Commissioner. The salary of the Assistant Building Commissioner shall be fixed by the Board of Public Safety. For the purposes of this subchapter, the Building Commissioner and his assistants shall have the power of police officers. They shall have the right to enter a building, site, or premises, or upon any work in process of construction, upon showing proper credentials, at reasonable hours, or at any time if an emergency exists affecting life, safety, or property. Penalties and remedies for interfering with the Building Commissioner or his assistants or for other violations of or non-compliance with this chapter shall be as provided in the Indiana Code.
