§ 70.01 DEFINITIONS.
   (A)   Terms used in this traffic code shall have the meanings prescribed for those terms by state law, unless otherwise specifically defined as a part of this chapter.
   (B)   For the purpose of this title the following definitions shall apply unless the context clearly indicates or requires a different meaning.
      CITY. All references to city shall mean the City of Mt. Vernon, Indiana.
      GOLF CART. Defined by I.C. 9-13-2-69.7, as may be amended.
      PERSON. Any natural individual, firm, trust, partnership, association, or corporation. Whenever the word PERSON is used in any section of this traffic code prescribing a penalty or fine as applied to partnerships or associations, the word includes the partners or members thereof, and as applied to corporations includes officers, agents, or employees thereof who are responsible for any violations of the section.
      POLICE OFFICER. Every officer of the city and any other duly constituted law officer who may be aiding the police force of the city at any time, including state and county officers.
      STREETS. Any reference in this traffic code to a specific street, avenue, or drive shall be deemed to be a reference to the exact and correct name of that street so long as the first part of the name before the word street, avenue, or drive, as the case may be, is correctly stated.
      TIME STANDARD. All reference to time contained in this traffic code shall be the time standard that is used by the city at any given time and which may change periodically.
      TRAFFIC CODE. The Mt. Vernon Traffic Code.
      TRUCK. A motor vehicle that has more than two rear wheels, more than one rear axle, or has an empty vehicle weight of more than 5,000 pounds.
