(A) All vehicles purchased for use by the city, its department heads and utilities, shall display a permanent decal identifying at least the following:
(1) City of Mt. Vernon, Indiana; and
(2) Name of the department or utility possessing the vehicle.
(B) The Common Council shall approve the decal.
(C) The decal shall be mounted to the front doors, or similar area, if the vehicle does not have doors, and shall cover an area equal to the door panel.
(D) All decals within a department or utility shall be the same.
(E) No vehicle shall be put in service until marked pursuant to this section.
(F) The Chief of Police may waive this identification requirement for vehicles within the Police Department to be used for investigation purposes.
