(A) All vehicles purchased for use by the city, its departments and utilities, excluding fire trucks, shall be selected in the color according to the following departmental color chart:
(1) Fire - Red.
(2) Water-Blue.
(3) Sewer - Gray.
(4) Sanitation - White.
(5) Street - Red.
(6) Police - White.
(7) Park and Recreation - Green.
(B) All vehicles purchased for use by the city, its departments and utilities, shall be purchased with as few options as is practical and trucks purchased shall not include an extended cab unless such an option can be provided at the same cost to the city as a standard cab. In the event a department head or superintendent desires to purchase a vehicle which includes options, the department head or superintendent must present to the purchasing agent a description of the option and an explanation why the option is necessary in the performance of a municipal duty.
(C) If there is a state bid for the vehicle sought and the vehicle is available, the department head/superintendent must obtain the state bid figure and present the state bid to the purchasing agent. This does not preclude seeking other bids or quotes as well.
