The fire lane referred to in Section 503 of the International Fire Code shall be marked by painting the curb red and placing upon curb, at no more than 25-foot intervals, the words “Fire Lane No Parking Tow Away Zone” in four-inch white letters. If a curb does not exist then a red stripe at least eight inches in width shall be painted on the paved surface with the words “Fire Lane No Parking Tow Away Zone” in four-inch white letters positioned at no more than 25-foot intervals. In addition, a red stripe at least eight inches in width shall be painted at a distance of at least 20 feet from said curb, with the words “Fire Lane No Parking Tow Away Zone,” in four-inch white letters positioned at no more than 25-foot intervals, with an eight inch stripe.
