§ 71.053 PROCEDURE UPON PASSING STOPPED SCHOOL BUS; SIGN FOR SCHOOL BUSES; SIGNS TO ACQUAINT MOTORISTS WITH PROVISIONS.
   (A)   Meeting or overtaking school bus. The driver of a vehicle upon a public street in the city upon meeting or overtaking from either direction any school bus which has stopped on the street for the purpose of receiving or discharging any school children shall stop the vehicle immediately before passing the school bus, but may then proceed past such school bus at a speed which is prudent, not exceeding ten miles per hour, and with due caution for the safety of such children.
   (B)   School bus signs. Every bus used for the transportation of school children shall bear upon the front and rear thereof a plainly visible sign containing the words “school bus” in letters not less than eight inches in height. When a school bus is being operated upon a street for purposes other than the actual transportation of children either to or from school, all markings thereon indicating “school bus” shall be covered or concealed.
   (C)   Exceptions to procedure. The driver of a vehicle upon a street with separate roadways need not stop upon meeting or passing a school bus which is on a different roadway or when upon a controlled access highway and the school bus is stopped in a loading zone which is a part of or adjacent to such highway and where pedestrians are not permitted to cross the highway.
   (D)   City Manager to post signs. The City Manager shall cause signs to be posted at such locations on the city streets as he or she deems appropriate to acquaint motorists with the provisions of this section.
