§ 11-3-1 PERMITS.
   (A)   (1)   No person shall erect or maintain any sign, signboard or rigid canopy over any street, sidewalk, alley or other public way in the city without having first obtained a permit therefor as herein provided, and subject to provisions of the city zoning regulations.
      (2)   Permits for signs, canopies or signboards shall be issued by the City Clerk upon payment of the fee provided, and shall designate the location of the proposed structure.
   (B)   The annual fee for such permit shall be $5 for each overhanging sign or canopy which extends less than five feet over the street and is less than 15 square feet total area, and $6 for signs of any larger area.
