The Health Officer of the city shall be a duly licensed and qualified physician and surgeon in the active practice of his or her profession, or a duly licensed and qualified registered nurse in the active practice of his or her profession; he or she shall perform all such duties as are specifically set forth in the ordinances of the city in relation to the public health, and shall take care that the public laws and ordinances of the city in relation to the public health are faithfully executed.
