§ 8-8-16 ENGINE AND COMPRESSION BRAKES; PROHIBITED.
   (A)   It is unlawful for the operator of any motor vehicle to use, operate or cause to use or operate, within the city limits, any engine brakes, compression brake or mechanical exhaust device designed to aid in the braking or deceleration of any motor vehicle that results in excessive, loud, unusual or explosive noise from such vehicle, except in the case of a true emergency to avoid damage to property or injury to any person.
   (B)   The usage of said engine brake, compression brake or mechanical exhaust device designed to aid in the braking or deceleration of a motor vehicle in such a manner so as to be audible at a distance of 300 feet from the motor vehicle shall constitute prima facie evidence of a violation of this section.
   (C)   Any person, firm or corporation found guilty of violating any provision of this section shall, upon conviction, be fined not less than $75.
