§ 8-4-2 EMERGENCY VEHICLES.
   (A)   Fire Department vehicles.
      (1)   Upon the approach of a Fire Department vehicle, drivers of vehicles shall comply with the provisions of this title relating to the approach of authorized emergency vehicles.
      (2)   It shall be unlawful for the driver of any vehicle, other than one on official business, to follow any fire apparatus in response to a fire alarm, closer than one block, or to park any vehicle within the block where fire apparatus has stopped to answer a fire alarm.
      (3)   It shall be further unlawful for the driver of any vehicle to drive over any unprotected hose of the Fire Department without the consent of the Fire Marshal or the assistant in command.

   (B)   Approach of authorized emergency vehicles.
      (1)   Upon the immediate approach of an authorized emergency vehicle, when the driver is giving audible sign by siren or bell, the driver of every vehicle shall yield the right-of-way and shall immediately drive to a position parallel to, and as close as possible to the right-hand edge or curb of the highway clear of any intersection, and shall stop and remain in such position until the authorized emergency vehicle has passed, except when otherwise directed by a police officer.
      (2)   This section shall not operate to relieve the driver of an authorized emergency vehicle from the duty to drive with due regard for the safety of all persons using the highway.
