§ 1-5-7 OATH OF ALDERMEN.
   Any newly elected Alderman may, immediately upon being notified as aforesaid, of his or her election, go before the City Clerk and take and subscribe the oath of office required by the statutes of the state; and from thenceforth such Alderman shall be entitled to his or her seat in the City Council. Said Clerk shall file said oath in his or her office.
