7-1-10: TAMPERING OR OBSTRUCTING:
No person, except a firefighter in the performance of his duty, shall open or in any way tamper with any fire hydrant connected with the water system unless permission first be obtained from the Public Works Supervisor and it is an authorized meter location. No person shall place upon or about any water gate connected with the water system any material substance whatsoever which will prevent access at all times to such hydrant or gate and no vehicle shall be allowed to stand within eight feet (8') of such hydrant. The use of a private hose in time of or during an alarm of fire is unlawful and is strictly prohibited unless for protection of property. (Ord. 41, 1-19-1978)
