§ 34.014  DUTY OF PROTECTION.
   The Chief of Police shall be charged with the duty of protecting the rights of persons and property and providing proper police protection at every fire within the village limits. He or she shall also take notice of all nuisances and take proper steps to abate the same. He or she shall cause to be removed all impediments and obstructions in the streets, avenues, alleys and public places of the village, or cause immediate notice thereof to be given to the proper officer whose duty it may be to attend to the same, according to the ordinances of the village.
