There is hereby established a department of the municipal government of the village to be known as the Police Department, which shall be under the supervision of the Mayor, and shall constitute one Chief of Police, patrol officers (one of whom may be designated as Sergeant by the Chief of Police) and other employees as may be approved from time to time by the Village Board.
