(A) There is hereby adopted by the City of Mt. Vernon, Illinois for the purpose of prescribing regulations governing conditions hazardous to life and property from fire or explosion those certain Codes known as the International Fire Code 2006 Edition issued by the International Code Council and the NFPA 101 Life Safety Code 2006 Edition, issued by National Fire Protection Association, the whole thereof, save and except such portions as are hereinafter deleted, modified, or amended, of which Codes not less than one copy of each have been and are now filed in the Office of the Clerk of the City of Mt. Vernon, and the same are hereby adopted and incorporated as fully as if set out at length herein, and from the date on which this Ordinance shall take effect, the provisions thereof shall be controlling within the limits of the City of Mt. Vernon.
(B) In the event of a conflict between the two foregoing referenced Codes, the more restrictive or stringent provision of the respective Codes shall control.
