901.14 AWNINGS OVER SIDEWALKS.
   (a)    No person shall erect or permit to be erected any awning in front of any building in the City that shall extend out, over or along any sidewalk, which shall, when let down, be a hindrance or obstruction to the passing public.
   (b)   No awning shall be erected by any person, the crossbars on which when the awning is let down shall be less than seven and one-half feet in height from the sidewalk over which it is erected; and when left down no crossbars shall extend horizontally so as to interfere with the passing public.
   (c)   All persons owning property in the City in front of which there are awnings not conforming to the provisions of this section, which obstruct or impede travel on the sidewalk, shall be ordered by the Chief of Police to make them conform to such provisions. In case such person shall fail to comply with the order of the Chief of Police, the City shall seek appropriate legal remedy.
