When a dwelling is converted to a rental dwelling or has been unlicensed for more than a year, it must be inspected for compliance with the Housing Maintenance Code. The fee for this conversion and inspection shall be per the city’s approved fee schedule. This fee can be reduced if the owner engages the services of a management company or presents proof of participation in an applicable education program. The conversion fee is in addition to the annual license fee. Buildings that are owned by a non-profit entity or are newly constructed are exempt from the conversion fee.
