(a) The Mayor shall be elected for a term of four years. (9-26-2000)
(b) The Mayor shall preside at meetings of the Board and shall exercise such powers and perform such other duties as shall be conferred on the office by this Charter, the ordinances of the Town or by the Board. The Mayor shall have all the powers, rights, privileges and obligations of a Board member including the right to vote on all matters. The Mayor shall be recognized as head of the Town government for all ceremonial and legal purposes and shall execute all legal instruments requiring official signatures. The Mayor shall be responsible for the efficient administration of the affairs of the Town as required by this Charter and the policies and directives of the Board, subject to modification of this responsibility and authority in the event of appointment of a Town Manager and upon definition of his/her authority and responsibility by ordinance.
