§ 51.999 PENALTY
   (A)   Violation of this chapter shall be deemed a misdemeanor and every person convicted of violation of this chapter shall be punished by a fine of not less than ten dollars ($10.00) nor more than one hundred dollars ($100.00) for each separate offense. Each day of violation shall be considered a separate offense.
   (B)   It shall be unlawful to violate any of the terms and provisions of Article II. Any person, firm, or corporation violating any of the said terms and provisions of Article II shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction shall be punished by fines as follows:
      (1)   For the first offense, the fine shall be twenty-five dollars ($25.00) plus court costs.
      (2)   For the second offense within twelve (12) calendar months, the fine shall be seventy-five dollars ($75.00) plus court costs.
      (3)   For any subsequent offense within twelve (12) calendar months of the next preceding offense, the fine shall be not less than two hundred and fifty dollars ($250.00).
      (4)   The owner of any dog that causes severe injury to or death of any person is subject to a fine of no less than one thousand dollars ($1,000.00) or more than five thousand dollars ($5,000.00).
