153.14 BEREAVEMENT LEAVE.
   (a)   Eligible Employees. Full and part-time regular employees are eligible for bereavement leave for those days they are regularly scheduled to work.
   (b)   Benefit.
      (1)   Bereavement leave for up to three days shall be granted for the death of a member of an employee's Immediate Family.
   Employees may use other paid leave or may take leave without pay to extend bereavement leave for Immediate Family members, or to take bereavement leave for Extended Family members, with the approval of the Mayor or his/her designee.
      (2)   Part-time employees will be compensated during bereavement leave at a level equal to what they would normally have earned for the hours they were scheduled to work.
      (3)   No amount of unused bereavement leave will be paid at year-end or upon termination.
      (4)   With regard to this section “Immediate Family” includes spouse, employee’s parents (or someone serving in loco parentis), siblings, grandparents, children, grandchildren and spouse’s parents.
   (c)   “Extended family” includes aunts and uncles, spouse’s aunts and uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews, spouse’s siblings, spouse’s grandparents and other in-laws.
