An employee, who, while working for the Village, suffers a work-related injury which is compensable under the Workers’ Compensation laws shall be permitted to use accumulated sick time pending the receipt of Workers’ Compensation benefits for temporary total disability. The use of sick time shall be allowed for each week during which the employee is unable to work due to the work-related injury and is not receiving Workers’ Compensation benefits. The advancement shall continue until the employee begins receiving a Temporary Total Disability benefit, up to a maximum period of ninety calendar days, or as otherwise set forth in the Village ordinances. The advancement of sick time shall be made only upon the condition that the employee execute an agreement requesting the advancement and agreeing to pay to the Village the Workers’ Compensation payments made to the employee for Temporary Total Disability attributable to the period during which the employee was utilizing sick leave.
In order to be eligible for an advancement of sick time, the application must first be approved by that employee's department head and the Mayor within ten (10) days of the processing of such employee's Workers' Compensation claim through the Village Treasurer.
