4-8-2: DEFINITIONS:
 
ALARM PERIOD:
January 1 through December 31, calendar year.
ALARM SYSTEM:
Any device designed for the detection of an unauthorized entry on premises or for alerting others of the commission of an unlawful act, or both, and, when actuated, emits a sound or transmits a signal or message which causes the Police department to be alerted.
ALARM USER:
Any person who installed an alarm system that uses alarm answering services to notify Police for a Police response. Government properties and facilities are exempt from the Alarm user definition.
ANSWERING SERVICE:
A telephone answering service which receives emergency signals from alarm systems, and thereafter immediately relaying the message by live voice to the communication center of the police department.
AUTOMATIC DIALING DEVICE:
An automated alarm system which sends a prerecorded voice message or coded signal indicating the existence of the emergency situation which the alarm system is designed to detect.
FALSE ALARM:
The activation of an alarm system caused by anything other than an emergency, criminal activity, or weather.
PERSON:
Any individual, partnership, corporation, association or other entity. (Ord. 2022-01, 3-28-2022)
