7-1-2: AUTHORITY OF MAYOR AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES:
   A.   Make Traffic Regulations Effective; Determine Emergency And Experimental Regulations: The Mayor, subject to any direction which the Board of Trustees may give by motion or resolution, is hereby empowered to make effective the provisions of the traffic ordinances of the Town and to make temporary or experimental regulations to cover emergencies or special conditions. No such temporary or experimental regulations shall remain in effect for more than ninety (90) days. (2011 Code § 21-2)
   B.   Designate Crosswalks And Safety Zones: The Mayor, subject to any direction which the Town Board may give by motion or resolution, is hereby authorized:
      1.   To designate and maintain, by appropriate devices, marks or lines upon the surface of the roadway, crosswalks at intersections where, in its opinion, there is particular danger to pedestrians crossing the roadway and at such other places as it may deem necessary; and
      2.   To establish safety zones or islands of such kind and character and at such places as it may deem necessary for the protection of pedestrians. (2011 Code § 21-8)
   C.   Sign One-Way Streets And Alleys: Whenever the Town Board of Trustees, by motion or resolution, designates any street or alley or part thereof as a one-way street or alley, the Town shall have placed and maintained signs giving notice thereof; and no such regulation shall be effective unless such signs are in place. Signs indicating the direction of lawful traffic movement shall be placed at every intersection where movement of traffic in the opposite direction is prohibited. (2011 Code § 21-13)
   D.   Designate And Sign Through Streets:
      1.   The Town Board of Trustees, by motion or resolution, may designate any street or part of a street "a through street". (2011 Code § 21-14)
      2.   Whenever the Town Board of Trustees, by motion or resolution, so designates and describes a through street, the Town shall have placed and maintained a stop sign, or if deemed more appropriate at any intersection, a yield sign, on each and every street intersecting such through street unless traffic at any such intersection is controlled at all times by traffic control signals; provided, however, that at the intersection of two (2) such through streets or at the intersection of a through street and a heavy traffic street not so designated, stop signs shall be erected at the approaches of either of said streets as may be determined by the Town Board of Trustees, if deemed desirable.    E.   Designate And Sign Stop Or Yield Intersections: The Mayor, subject to any direction given by the Town Board of Trustees by motion or resolution, is hereby authorized to determine and designate intersections where particular hazard exists upon other than through streets and to determine:
      1.   Whether vehicles shall stop at one (1) or more entrances to any such intersection, in which event, he shall cause to be erected a stop sign at every such place where a stop is required; or (2011 Code § 21-16)
      2.   Whether vehicles shall yield the right-of-way to vehicles on a different street at such intersection, in which event, he shall cause to be erected a yield sign at every place where obedience thereto is required. (2011 Code § 21-16; amd. 2017 Code)
   F.   Designate And Sign Angle Parking Areas: The Town Board of Trustees, by motion or resolution, shall determine upon what streets and parts of streets angle parking shall be permitted and shall have such streets marked or signed. (2011 Code § 21-18)
