§ 30.35 PASSAGE OF ORDINANCES.
   (A)   Definitions.  
      (1)   A requirement that an ordinance, resolution, or other action of the Common Council be passed by a MAJORITY VOTE means at least a majority vote of all the elected members.
      (2)   A requirement that an ordinance, resolution, or other action of the Common Council be passed by a TWO-THIRDS VOTE means at least a two-thirds vote of all the elected members.

   (B)   Passage by majority vote. A majority vote of the Common Council is required to pass an ordinance, unless a greater vote is required by statute. (IC 36-4-6-12)
   (C)   Passage on day of introduction.
      (1)   A two-thirds vote of all the elected members, after unanimous consent of the members present to consider the ordinance, is required to pass an ordinance of the Common Council on the same day or at the same meeting at which it is introduced.
      (2)   Division (1) above does not apply to a zoning ordinance or amendment to a zoning ordinance that is adopted under IC 36-7.
