For the purpose of this chapter, the following definitions shall apply unless the context clearly indicates or requires a different meaning.
COMMERCIAL. Any business or enterprise, or other dwellings excluded from the definition herein as a residence.
CONTAINERS. A 64- or 32-gallon toter approved by the City of Monticello for the purpose of collection of solid waste.
HAZARDOUS MATERIAL (unlawful products). Those items which cannot be deposited at the landfill such as: automotive batteries, paint products, insecticides, oil, antifreeze, tires, appliances containing freon, and the like.
RESIDENCE. A dwelling unit such as a home, trailer, or up to and including a three-family dwelling (not counting the portion of such dwelling occupied by the owner thereof). Not included in this definition are hotels, motels, and apartment complexes. Each unit of such a multi-family dwelling unit shall be considered a separate dwelling unit for purposes of billing.
SOLID WASTE. Rejected food waste including every accumulation of animal, fruit or vegetable matter, used or intended for food, or that attends the preparation, use, cooking, dealing in, or storing of meat, fish, fowl, fruit, or vegetables and to include further, any putrescible animal matter and vegetable wastes resulting from the handling, preparation, cooking, and consumption of foods, including animal carcasses or parts thereof. It shall further mean such matter as cans, metal ware, glass, crockery, sweepings, bottles, paper, rags, boxes and litter of any kind.
UPHOLSTERED FURNITURE. Any furniture, not originally designed or manufactured solely for outdoor use.
YARD WASTE. Vegetative matter resulting from lawn mowing, landscape maintenance and land clearing projects. This definition shall not include firewood stored outdoors which does not otherwise violate any city ordinance or state laws or regulations.
