(a) Definitions. Unless otherwise indicated, the meaning of the terms used in this section shall be as follows:
(1) "Superintendent" means the Superintendent of Sewerage.
(2) "Building sewer" means the extension from a point three feet outside the building wall to the public sewer.
(b) Application. Prior to construction of the building sewer, the owner or his agent shall complete an application form as provided by the Municipality.
(c) Costs. All costs of installing and connecting the building sewer shall be at the owner's expense. The owner or person installing the building sewer shall indemnify the Municipality from any loss or damage that may directly or indirectly be occasioned by the installation.
(d) Materials. A new building sewer shall have a minimum four-inch internal diameter and shall be of materials listed below or other suitable materials as approved by the Superintendent.
(1) Clay Pipe:
ASTM C13 - standard strength clay pipe
ASTM C200 - extra strength clay pipe
ASTM C425 - compression joints for vitrified clay pipe
(2) Cast iron pipe:
ASTM A74 - cast iron soil pipe and fittings
(3) Asbestos - cement pipe:
ASTM C428 - asbestos-cement nonpressure sewer pipe
(4) ABS pipe:
ASTM D2680 - Acrylonitrile- butadiene- styrene composite pipe
(e) Construction. The building sewer shall be laid in a straight alignment and at a uniform grade insofar as possible. The building sewer shall have a minimum fall as follows unless authorized by the Superintendent.

(f) Excavations. All excavations required for the installation of the building sewer shall be open trench work unless otherwise approved by the Superintendent. No backfill shall be placed until the work has been approved by the Superintendent or his representative.
