(a) In the event that a mailbox and/or support post is damaged or destroyed by Village operations the Village will offer the owner of the property the choice of one of the following options:
(1) The Village will furnish and install a standard replacement post and/or mailbox selected by the Village, or
(2) Where a more expensive decorative mailbox is involved, or where the property owner simply wants to erect a mailbox different that the mailbox offered, the Village will offer the property owner a reimbursement of thirty dollars ($30.00).
(b) The replacement of a damaged mailbox shall be performed at the earliest point of time that conditions allow.
(c) Replacement or reimbursement will only be made on such mailboxes that were properly installed pursuant to the regulations of the United States Postal Service. If such mailbox was not properly installed the property owner shall be ineligible for such assistance.
