§ 92.01 DEFINITIONS.
   All words used in this chapter not defined below shall be in conformance with the applicable publications of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) or its successor body. For the purpose of this chapter, the following words and phrases are defined and shall be construed as defined below unless it shall be apparent from the context that a different meaning is intended:
   (A)   DECIBEL (dB). A unit for describing the amplitude of sound, equal to twenty (20) times the logarithm to the base 10 of the ratio of the pressure of the sound measured to the reference pressure, which is twenty (20) micronewtons per square meter.
   (B)   SOUND. An oscillation in pressure, particle displacement, particle velocity or other physical parameter, in a medium with internal forces that causes compression, and rarefaction of that medium. The description of sound may include any characteristic of such sound, including duration, intensity and frequency.
   (C)   SOUND PRESSURE LEVEL. Twenty (20) times the logarithms to the base 10 of the ratio of the root mean squared (RMS) sound pressure to the reference pressure of twenty (20) micronewtons per square meter.
   (D)   RESIDENTIAL PROPERTY. Any zoning district designated as primarily residential in Chapter 157 of the Monroe Code of Ordinances (R-40, R-20, R-15, R-10, R-8, R-0, R-MF, R-MH, R-P1, R-P2, R-P3). For purposes of this Chapter, RESIDENTIAL PROPERTY shall also include property which is used for a hotel, motel, bed and breakfast establishment, health care facility, group home, tourist home, or any other use involving the overnight stay of individuals regardless of the zoning classification.
   (E)   LOUD, RAUCOUS, DISTURBING NOISE. Any sound which is made unlawful by the subsequent sections of this chapter.
