There is hereby created the office of Animal Control Officer of the city. It shall be the duty of the Animal Control Officer to see that the provisions of this chapter and any state statute including, but not limited to N.C.G.S. Chapter 67 § 4.1 and § 4.2, are strictly enforced within the police jurisdiction of the city. The Animal Control officer shall be directly responsible to the Police Chief. It shall be the duty of the Animal Control Officer to cooperate with the county Animal Control Officer in any manner which will more efficiently and effectively carry out the terms of this chapter.
