§ 156.220   PARKING LOT LANDSCAPING.
The following standards shall apply to interior site landscaping, and landscaping within off-street parking areas, all of which must meet the design and size specifications of this subchapter:
   (A)   Tree standards:  One (1) canopy/deciduous tree shall be provided for every twelve (12) parking spaces or per 2,000 square feet of gross floor area, whichever is greater.  In the instance where a canopy tree may obstruct overhead utility lines, two (2) understory trees may be supplemented for each canopy tree.  No parking space may be located more than sixty-five (65) feet from a canopy/deciduous tree.
   (B)   Shrub standards:  Six (6) shrubs shall be provided for every twelve (12) parking spaces or per 2,000 square feet of gross floor area, whichever is greater.  Shrubs shall be grouped with a required canopy tree.  There shall be no gaps greater than ten (10) feet between required shrubs and shrubs shall not be located more than ten (10) away from the drip line of a required canopy tree.  No more than forty (40%) percent of the shrubs may be deciduous.
   (C)   Landscaped planting areas:  Landscaped planting areas are to be located within or adjacent to the parking area as tree islands, at the end of parking bays, inside seven (7) foot wide or greater medians, or between rows of cars.  The number and shape of landscaped planting areas shall be at the discretion of the property owner so long as all requirements herein are met.
   (D)   Separation from buildings:  Parking areas located in the OT, Office Transitional district, unless located on or within a structure, shall be separated from the exterior wall of a structure, exclusive of pedestrian entrance ways or loading areas, by a landscaped planning area of at least four (4) feet in width. Shrubs shall be required within the area at a minimum rate of one (1) shrub per six (6) linear feet.
