ORDINANCE NO. 854

AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 8-3-2 STOP INTERSECTIONS DESIGNATED BY MAKING THE INTERSECTION OF 5TH STREET AND MARKET STREET A 4-WAY STOP INTERSECTION OF THE CITY OF MOMENCE

   WHEREAS, Section 8-3-2 of the Momence Code establishes those intersections within the community which are designated as stop intersections; and

   WHEREAS, currently, the intersection of Market Street and 5th Street is designated as a 2-way stop intersection; and

   WHEREAS, traffic at that intersection justifies the conversion of the intersection to a 4-way stop intersection.

   NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MOMENCE, KANKAKEE COUNTY, ILLINOIS, as follows:

   SECTION 1: Ordinance 8-3-2 STOP INTERSECTIONS DESIGNATED, shall be amended in that subsection (b) listing 2-way stop intersections shall have deleted from that intersection, the location of Market Street entering 5th Street.

   SECTION 2:   Ordinance 8-3-2 STOP INTERSECTIONS DESIGNATED, shall be amended in that there shall be added to subsection (d) 4-way stop intersections in the appropriate alphabetical order, the following intersection: 5 th Street, east and west, entering Walnut Street and Walnut Street north and south entering 5 th Street.

   SECTION 3:   This Ordinance amending a section of the Momence Municipal Code shall be added to that publication.

   SECTION 4:   This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect after its passage, approval and publication in pamphlet form in accordance with law.
