(A) There is hereby established an executive department of the city to be known and designated as the streets/alleys and maintenance department of the city, and there shall be placed in charge of the general management and control thereof, a superintendent, who shall be appointed by the mayor with the approval of the city council, it being hereby determined and declared that the establishment of said department and the appointment of a superintendent thereof is necessary and expedient for the best interests of the city, said superintendent shall have the skills necessary to run the department and do maintenance in all city departments. The mayor, with the approval of the city council, shall likewise appoint all necessary employees of said department. (Ord. 686, 5-3-2010)
