Beginning with the regular election of municipal officers on April 7, 1981, and for each regular municipal election thereafter all persons elected to a municipal office: mayor, city treasurer, city clerk and members of the city council, shall be sworn in and assume their respective duties at the first regular meeting of the city council in the month of May immediately following their election in April.
