6-8-7: PARKING FACILITIES:
   A.   Parking facilities are hereby established by the village on certain property owned/leased by the village and the portion to be leased from the Northern Illinois Railroad Corporation.
   B.   The parking facilities will be maintained by the village in good condition and be operated in an economical and efficient manner.
   C.   The parking facilities shall generally be for the use of commuters using the commuter rail division of the regional transport authority (CRD) service Monday through Friday only and for all purpose parking on Saturday and Sunday.
   D.   There shall be charged a parking fee for each motor vehicle as follows:
 
Front Street lot
$1.00 per numbered stall for all day parking
Hickory Creek lot
$1.00 per numbered stall for all day parking
McGovney Street lot
$1.00 per numbered stall for all day parking
Therafin lot
$1.00 per numbered stall for all day parking
Village hall lot
$1.00 per numbered stall for all day parking
 
   E. A special fund is hereby created and entitled "parking facilities fund" into which all revenues shall be paid. Said fund shall be in the custody of the village treasurer.
   F. The village police are hereby empowered with authority to supervise the operation of the parking facilities and to enforce this section.
   G. It is a violation of this section to park any motor vehicle within the parking facilities without having first placed the appropriate amount of money within the meter or collection device.
   Any person accused of a violation of this section which prohibits parking without first putting the proper amounts of money in the meter or collection device to cover the required time that the vehicle will be parked in said space, may settle and compromise the claim against said person for such violation by paying to the village treasurer the sum of twenty five dollars ($25.00) for each such offense.
   In the event that the accused person believes himself to be innocent of the alleged parking violation, the matter shall be decided by the circuit court of Will County with the alleged violator being issued a notice to appear.
   The fact that a motor vehicle which is parked in violation of this section is registered in the name of a person or corporation shall be considered prima facie proof that such person or corporation was in control of the motor vehicle at the time of such violation. (Ord. 1543, 10-13-1997)
