There is hereby created a police department, an executive department of the village. The police department shall consist of the chief of police and of such members as may be provided from time to time by the village president and board of trustees, and such persons shall take the oath of office. Full time members of the department shall be qualified under the state police training program. (1969 Code, ch. 5, § 2)
