ORDINANCE NO. 2024-O-009
 
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE VILLAGE OF MOKENA CODE OF ORDINANCES, SECTION 6-5-10, REGARDING TRUCK PARKING ON RESIDENTIAL STREETS AND NON-DESIGNATED PUBLIC ROADS
WHEREAS, the Village of Mokena (hereinafter "Village") aims to ensure the safety and well-being of its residents and to preserve the quality of life within the community including the regulation of parking of vehicles on public ways of the Village pursuant to the Illinois Municipal Code, Section 5/11-80-2; and
WHEREAS, the parking of large vehicles, including trucks with a license plate classification higher than a B (or an out-of-state equivalent) or of a height of ninety inches (90") or more, on residential streets and other non-designated areas, can cause visual obstructions, contribute to congestion, and detract from the public health, safety, and welfare of the Village; and
WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the Village to regulate the parking of such vehicles on all residential streets as well as on any Village street or public road not specifically dedicated or approved for truck parking;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of Mokena, Illinois, as follows:
SECTION 1: AMENDMENT 
The Village of Mokena Code of Ordinances, Section 6-5-10 (A), is hereby amended to read as follows:
6-5-10: TRUCK PARKING:
A. Residential Streets and Non-Designated Public Roads: All vehicles with an Illinois State license plate of higher than a B classification (or an out-of-state equivalent) or of a height of ninety inches (90") or more are prohibited from parking on any residential street or on any village street or public road not specifically dedicated or approved for truck parking.
SECTION 2: SEVERABILITY If any provision of this Ordinance or the application thereof to any person or circumstance is held invalid, such invalidity shall not affect other provisions or applications of this Ordinance which can be given effect without the invalid provision or application, and to this end, the provisions of this Ordinance are declared to be severable.
SECTION 3: EFFECTIVE DATE This ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage, approval, and publication in accordance with law.
