§ 150.221 MAIL BOX INSTALLATION OR REPLACEMENT (POST ONLY).
   (A)   Right-of-way permit application (to allow work within village R/W).
      (1)   Many of the village streets include storm/pavement subgrade drains behind the curb. A permit is required to ensure that these critical drainage pipes aren't damaged during mailbox installation.
      (2)   Submit a right-of-way permit application to Village Clerk (with fees and deposit).
      (3)   Submit neat drawings of proposed mailbox location. Show distance from intersections, hydrants, drives etc. Drawings should indicate the size and depth of the proposed post hole and the means of anchoring the post.
      (4)   A zoning permit is not required.
      (5)   The Zoning Inspector reviews the application.
   (B)   Village fees. Right-of-way permit application fee and other fees/deposits described in the latest Village Permits and Approvals Fee Schedule required with application submittal.
   (C)   Village standards.
      (1)   The individual performing excavations within the village is required to contact OUPS, OGPUP, 811 or individual utilities as required to locate and protect underground facilities. Record drawings are not exact and care should be used when excavating near utilities shown on plans or marked in the field. The village should be contacted directly for the location of storm sewers.
      (2)   Hand dig all mailbox post holes within the village.
      (3)   Refer to the village "Mailbox Installation" detail for minimum clearances from the curb.
      (4)   Any drainage pipe or structure damaged must be completely repaired at the cost of the property owner.
      (5)   Provide a minimum of 12 inches of clearance between the drain pipe and the post and any concrete backfill used to anchor the post.
   (D)   Inspections.
      (1)   The Village Zoning Inspector will inspect the work.
      (2)   Failure to repair a damaged pipe will result in a loss of deposit and require the village to repair the drain pipe and possibly re-locate the mailbox post.
