3-12-2: BOARD MEMBERSHIP:
   A.   Oath And Bond: Before entering upon his official duties, each member of the golf and cemetery board shall file with the finance officer the usual oath of office and, if required by the city council, bond for the faithful performance of the member's duties.
   B.   Qualification Of Appointees: Any resident of the city of Mitchell, an owner of a business within the city of Mitchell, any property owner of property within the city of Mitchell, and any person who works in the city of Mitchell, with a Mitchell, South Dakota address, may be appointed as a member of the golf and cemetery board by the mayor, and confirmed by the city council at the first regular city council meeting in October of each year, or at such other time as shall be convenient for the mayor and the city council.
   C.   Term:
      1.   Each board member shall serve for a term of three (3) years. The terms of the board members shall be staggered such that an approximately equal number of member terms shall expire each year. Eligibility for golf and cemetery board member positions shall not be limited by serving any number of consecutive terms.
      2.   At the time this chapter is adopted, all current members serving on the golf and cemetery board are reappointed to serve the remainder of their respective terms.
      3.   The mayor shall have the authority to remove a member of the golf and cemetery board at any time.
   D.   Organization: The golf and cemetery board shall elect is chair from among its members for a term of one year, with eligibility for reelection, and may fill such other of its offices as it may create in the manner prescribed by the rules of the commission. (Ord. O2020-16, 12-21-2020)
