8-2-2: INJURY OR DAMAGE PROHIBITED:
   A.   Injury Prohibited: No person shall, in any manner, remove, destroy, mutilate, cut, deface or otherwise injure or interfere with any trees, shrubs or plants upon any street, parking or other public ground in the City without a written permit from the Superintendent of Parks, except that the owner of any lot or parcel of land may properly trim or remove broken or dead limbs or branches from trees standing on the parking adjoining such lot or land.    B.   Placing Material Against Trees: No material of any description shall be placed against any tree unless the tree is first sufficiently protected by a proper guard to prevent injury. (1984 Code § 37-7)
   C.   Moving Buildings:
      1.   Injury To Trees By Moving Buildings: No person shall move any building along any street in such way as to interfere with or injure any tree in such street without having secured from the building official a permit with the approval of the Director of Park and Recreation. (1984 Code § 37-8)
      2.   Trimming To Move Buildings: Any trimming or moving of trees made necessary for the moving of a building or other structure shall be done under the supervision of the Director of Park and Recreation and at the expense of the applicant. Should injury or death result to any tree because of such trimming or moving, the applicant shall, upon direction of the Director of Park and Recreation, replace the same at his own expense.    D.   Paving Around Trees: No paving of any description shall be laid or maintained by anyone between sidewalk and curb which will cut off the air and water from any street tree. A space of approximately twenty five (25) square feet shall be left open for each tree, which space may be covered with a suitable grating, the plans and specifications of which have first been submitted to and approved by the Director of Park and Recreation.    E.   Utility Wires And Cables: The Park and Recreation Board shall have the power to remove any wire, cable, conduit or other thing that burns, cuts or chafes any part of any street tree in case the owner of the wires shall fail, after three (3) days' notice, to take adequate steps to prevent further injury.
