The purpose of this subchapter is to establish guidelines for the officer as to when motor vehicles should be impounded. In addition the purpose of this section is to provide security for motor vehicles belonging to persons who have been arrested. It is of the utmost importance that vehicles belonging to, or which have been driven by persons arrested, are not left sitting on the streets creating traffic hazards or potential security liability problems for the village. Therefore it is necessary for the officer to take steps to make sure that such vehicles are securely kept.
